After running a series of short-lived personal sites, I decided to settle down once and for all and get serious about blogging.
In its earlier stages, Kage no Kokoro went by the name 'Dark Glamour,' a term that Professor Dumbledore used to describe the teenager Voldemort and his followers during their days at Hogwarts in the sixth Harry Potter book. But I soon discovered that another blog had already laid claim to the name, and so changed it to Kage no Kokoro. Kage - Japanese for 'shadow,' kokoro - Japanese for 'heart,' so I suppose it means 'shadowed heart?' I've already forgotten.
Kage no Kokoro originally opened December 2005. My design skills were rather shabby then, as I was a newcomer to the world of webdesigning. Now I have honed my skills, and I have gone from "shitty" to "crappy." KnK was first hosted by Geocities, and that lasted a month or two. When I heard about Kylosa, I made the change immediately. However, a few months later the site was no more, though reasons are still unclear to me. A week passed before I plucked up enough courage to apply for hosting (my first time) at Frozen-Umbra.net with Shimobashira.
Things were smooth until December 2006, when I decided to come back from an unannounced hiatus and discovered that the site had literally disappeared. With no way to contact her, KnK was down up until January 9th, 2007. While browsing my friend's MySpace, I happened to spot a comment from someone I didn't know, saying that she had just opened her new domain. Being the nosy bastard I am, I snuck over for a looksie and was glad to discover that not only was this person interested in anime, she was also accepting hosting applications. And without hesitation I sent mine in and was accepted within a few minutes. And so KnK moved into Trance-Awake.net.
However, I began to ignore my blog, allowing it to rot for weeks before posting an entry. After a while, T-A.net started to go all wonky, and when Kara emailed me, I let her know that I had begun to lose interest in blogging and probably would not bring KnK back. For a while, I had no intention of bringing KnK back at all, but then I decided, "Heck, I'm just sick and tired of the name. Get a new name, interest comes back. Yaaaaay!"
I originally appealed to my Neopian guildmates for help in coming up with a new name. Then one day, I happened to start reading Romeo & Juliet (which I love and is, to me, the ultimate love story), and the phrase 'artificial night' jumped out at me.
And ze rest... is history!
